The first season of the oil industry drama Landman, produced by Taylor Sheridan, ended in January. While Paramount+ is yet to officially announce a second season, there are high chances of it returning given the show’s growing popularity.
Landman season 2
The climax of the first season has put our lead character Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) in several complicated situations, which will be resolved in Season 2. After Monty Miller’s (Jon Hamm) death due to a heart attack, Tommy is made the new president of M-Tex Oil, which is no less than a headache for him. He has to complete an oil drilling deal, which can cause huge losses to the company if it fails. Apart from this, he has to work with a lawyer, Rebecca (Kayla Wallace), whom he does not trust at all.
Threat from Drug Cartels
Tommy is not only in danger from business deals but also from drug cartels. His new contact, Galino (Andy Garcia), wants Tommy to help the cartel get into the oil business, but this relationship will be fraught with trouble for Tommy. Read Also: Cast of game of thrones cast
Family Complications Continue
Tommy’s life is not limited to business. His (ex) wife Angela (Ali Larter) is a spendthrift, his daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) is living her high school life, and son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) is embroiled in a complicated relationship.
Despite all these challenges, Tommy must continue to move forward. And we’re sure that when Landman Season 2 arrives, Tommy’s mountain of problems will get even bigger.
Is Landman Season 2 Confirmed?
Paramount+ has not made any official announcement yet, but the show has become one of the most popular shows on the streaming platform. Its high ranking on the Nielsen streaming charts is proof of that.
However, behind-the-scenes reports point to something else. In May 2024, when the first season had not even aired, Landman star Demi Moore revealed that they were hoping to start shooting for Season 2 in early 2025. Similarly, in January 2025, Ali Larter also indicated that the next season has already been planned.
All these signs suggest that even though there is no official confirmation, Landman Season 2 is almost certain.
Landman Season 2 Expected Release Date
It is difficult to predict the release date of Taylor Sheridan’s show, as there are many factors involved. If it starts shooting in early 2025, it could release in late 2025 or early 2026. For example, Sheridan’s other show Lioness, which was much more complex, still only had a 15-month gap between its two seasons.
Therefore, it can be expected that Landman Season 2 will start streaming in late 2025 or early 2026.

Landman Origin Story
The story of Landman is inspired by Texas Monthly’s popular podcast Boomtown. The podcast aired for 12 episodes in 2019-2020 and featured in-depth reporting on the Permian Basin oil industry. It was ranked among the 50 best podcasts of 2020 by The Atlantic.
The show’s co-creator Christian Wallace is a former roughneck himself and has also worked at Texas Monthly. He says the show reflects the realities of the oil and gas industry, but some things are dramatized for entertainment.
