There is great news for Shrek fans! The first look of the fifth installment of the famous animated film series ‘Shrek’ has been revealed. Universal Pictures shared a new teaser on Thursday, February 27, confirming that Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are returning to their iconic roles again. Also, famous Hollywood actress Zendaya is also going to lend her voice in this film.
New character in Shrek 5
Universal Pictures shared a video on Instagram and wrote, “The most fabulous people of Far, Far Away are coming back.” In this teaser, Donkey asks the magic mirror “Who is the most beautiful person in the world?” Meanwhile, Shrek and Fiona appear with their daughter (voiced by Zendaya). Pinocchio also appears in the video, repeating his famous nose-picking trick.
Zendaya’s old tweet goes viral
In August 2017, Emmy Award winner Zendaya had tweeted, “I watch too much Shrek in my adult life.” Now, when her inclusion in the film was confirmed, the official Shrek account shared her old tweet, writing, “This tweet proved to be absolutely accurate.”
Historic success of Shrek franchise
The first Shrek film was released in 2001 and won the Oscar for Best Animated Film. It was followed by ‘Shrek 2’ in 2004, ‘Shrek the Third’ in 2007 and ‘Shrek Forever After’ in 2010. All these films were well received by the audience. Apart from this, a spin-off film based on Antonio Banderas’ popular character ‘Puss in Boots’ came in 2011, followed by ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ in 2022.
‘Shrek 5’ will come in 2026
